This course in firearms safety category H is designed to be delivered through a blended training package or 8 hours face to face training. Theory will be completed online with 4 hours of face to face practical assessments. After successful completion of this course you will receive a Statement of Attainment – partial 11029NAT – Course in Firearms and Weapons Safety (approved for firearms licensing in Queensland) for Category H

Category H Weapons

Category H Weapons

(1) A firearm, including an air pistol and a blank-fire firearm, under 75cm in length, other than a powerhead, is a category H weapon, regardless of whether it has been rendered permanently inoperable.

(2) A conversion unit is also a category H weapon.

(3) This section does not apply to a powerhead or category C, D or R weapon.

(4) In this section—

conversion unit means a unit or device or barrel that is capable of being used for converting a category H weapon that is a firearm from one calibre to another calibre.

For schedule 2 of the Act, each of the following comprises a class of category H weapon—

(a) an air pistol;

(b) a centre-fire pistol with a calibre of not more than .38 inch or a black-powder pistol;

(c) a centre-fire pistol with a calibre of more than .38 inch but not more than .45 inch;

(d) a rim-fire pistol.(reference police.qld.gov.au)

Before you start your application, please read this information carefully. This will help you to have everything ready before you start.

To apply for a weapons licence in Queensland you must:

Meet the personal eligibility requirements.

Have a genuine reason to hold a licence.

Have access to secure weapon storage.

Complete an approved weapons safety course covering the category of weapon you’re applying for and provide your statement of attainment. The course must have been completed within the 12 months before the date of submitting your application.

Provide the supporting documentation requested during the application process.**

The name, date of birth and address that you provide with your application must match the documents you provide to prove your identity. For example, if there are any spelling mistakes in your name or if you have a middle name that you don’t provide with your application but is on your proof of identity documents, you may not be able to complete your proof of identity.

Pay the required fees.

Once you have submitted, you will receive an email requesting you attend a participating Australia Post outlet to provide your proof of identity. You will also have your passport quality photograph taken (free of charge) at your local participating Australia Post outlet. (reference (reference Apply online with Queensland Police here)

Pre-Course Requirements

There are no pre-course requirements for this 11029NAT – course in firearms and weapons safety – however all students must be over the age of 11 and able to provide evidence of age and written permission from their legal guardian / parent. Minimum Identification Requirements for Children: (1) Birth Certificate/Passport, (2) Photograph of Child and (3) Medicare card with both names indicated on the same card.

Methods of Delivery

Blended training

This training is split into 2 components (theory and practical). Blended training allows the student to complete the theory portion online and complete the practical training in an inclass environment. Total duration of training to be undertaken within 3 (three) months. The average completion time is within 2 (two) weeks. Weekends available by appointment only. The total duration takes place over 8 hours with half a day of live range firing at selected ranges.

Our Springwood location is a 5 minute walk from the Springwood Bus Stop, we are a direct exit off the M1 Motorway heading south, in the Highpoint business centre. There is also plenty of onsite parking available..

Units of Competency

Upon successful completion of the 11029NAT – Course in Firearms and Weapons Safety (Category H) you will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency. To achieve this qualification you will be required to complete and demonstrate an understanding of the following units of competency through written assessmentsand practical display assessments.

NAT11029001 – Demonstrate knowledge of weapons legislation, weapons and community safety

NAT11029005 – Use Category H firearms lawfully, safely, and responsibly

Upon Successful Completion of this Course

After successful completion of this course you will have the knowledge and skills to apply for a Queensland Firearms License (Category H) through Queensland Police Service.

All our courses are presented by experienced trainers who have relevant industry experience and the knowledge to assist you to become proficient in the use of Security Firearms legislation and procedures.

Non-Satisfactory Completion

If you receive a non-satisfactory completion at the end of the course, you will be provided with a second opportunity to complete the course satisfactorily at no cost. Any further training required after 2 (two) attempts will incur additional costs. Our trainers will use all available facilities to assist you in reaching a satisfactory grading. We do not guarantee the successful completion of this course, however we will provide you with the full support from our expert trainers for you to achieve the best possible outcome.

Course Costs

The cost for the 11029NAT – course in Firearms and Weapons Safety (Category H) units of Competency is $150.00. We accept payment by bank transfers, PayPal, Cash payments or EFT/Credit card facilities are available. Afterpay is available onsite only.

A deposit of $50 is required upon your enrolment, with refunds available as per our refund policy. A copy of our refund policy can be located on our website or a hard copy can be viewed in our student handbook.

Statement of Attainment

All statement of attainment and certificate’s issued by Advance-Forward Pty Ltd are Nationally Recognized Training.

Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s will be provided in an electronic form with a hardcopy available to collect or send via post. Express Post incurs $15.00 charge.

Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s can take up to 28 days to process. We will not “rush” Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s under any circumstances to allow for thorough marking, feedback and assessment.

All students will be required to provide us with your USI number. If you do not have a USI number please go to www.usi.gov.au and follow the prompt to apply for a USI number.
