CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
This unit of competency contains the skills and knowledge required to prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
Upon successful completion you will be issued with a general construction induction card issued on behalf of Workplace Health & Safety Queensland licensing which is recognised and accepted in all states and territories of Australia.
Methods of Delivery
QUEENSLAND – 4 1/2 hours face-to-face training
This course is delivered from 8:30am until 4:00pm on selected days.
Self-paced online – Rural Queensland (further than 100 kms from a training facility), WA & TAS
This course can be delivered through self paced online learning for students who live in rural Queensland and are further than 100kms from a training facility or live in Western Australia or Tasmania. Evidence is required to be produced to confirm your location.
NOTE: Self paced online is NOT suitable for students living within 100kms of a training facility that is approved to deliver training and assessment for this unit of competency and are required by legislation to attend Face to Face training and assessment
Minimum Requirements for Eligibility
To be eligible for this course you are required to meet the following criteria:
- – Prove your identity documented with a Medicare Card, Drivers License, 18+ Proof of Age Card, Keypass Card or Passport (Must provide at least 1 Document)
- – 14 years of age or older documented with a Birth Certificate, Secondary School ID card (with Date of Birth indicated); Drivers License, 18+ Proof of Age Card, Keypass Card or Passport (Must provide at least 1 Document). Students under 18 years of age must have parental permission.
Upon successful completion of this course
After successful completion of this course you will have the knowledge and skills to apply for positions in the Queensland construction industry including activities such as:
- Excavation
- Labourers who perform various construction work
- Electrical, plumbing, road and earth construction activities
- Repair, renovations and refurbishment of houses, buildings and structures
- Painting, cleaning and landscape works
- Installation of carpets, curtains, cabinets, appliances and sprinklers
- Security personnel on construction and/or building sites
- Survey, inspection and auditing of construction costs (with supervision of anyone holding a white card QLD)
This course will also provide you with multiple opportunities to practice and present good communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, initiatives and enterprise, planning and organisation, self management, effective learning skills and information about the newest safety law, legislation and technology.
All our courses are presented by experienced trainers who have relevant industry experience and the knowledge to assist you to prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
Non-Satisfactory Completion
If you receive a non-satisfactory completion at the end of the course, you will be provided with a second opportunity to complete the course satisfactorily at no charge. Our trainers will use all available facilities to assist you in reaching a satisfactory grading. We do not guarantee the successful completion of this course, however we will provide you with the full support from our expert trainers for you to achieve the best possible outcome. Additional training opportunities will incur standard training & assessment costs.
Employment Opportunities
After the successful receipt of your Statement of Attainment and general construction induction card you may be eligible to apply for positions in the construction industry.
Training Locations
Our Springwood location is a 5 minute walk from the Springwood Bus Stop, we are a direct exit off the M1 Motorway heading south, in the Highpoint business centre. There is also plenty of onsite parking available.
Our Toowoomba location is a 5 minute drive from Toowoomba City. We are a direct exit off the Warrego Highway heading west just near the new Toowoomba Bypass at Charlton. There is also plenty of parking available near our location.

Course Costs
The cost for the CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry units of Competency is $90. We accept payment by bank transfers, PayPal, Cash payments or EFT/Credit card facilities are available. Afterpay is available onsite only. Payment plans are not available for this unit of competency.
A deposit of $45 is required upon your enrolment, with refunds available as per our refund policy. A copy of our refund policy can be located on our website or a hard copy can be viewed in our student handbook.
Statement of Attainment
All statement of attainment and certificate’s issued by Advance-Forward Pty Ltd are Nationally Recognized Training.
Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s will be provided in an electronic form with a hardcopy available to collect or send via post. Express Post incurs $12.50 charge.
Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s can take up to 28 days to process. We will not “rush” Statement of Attainment’s and/or Certificate’s under any circumstances to allow for thorough marking, feedback and assessment.
USI
All students are required to provide us with your USI number issued by the training authority. If you do not have a USI number please go to http://www.usi.gov.au and follow the prompts to apply for a USI number. Once we receive your USI we will provide you with a copy of our student handbook.
